A career built on one problem: keeping steel from corroding, in the harshest places on earth.
I've spent 27 years in coating and corrosion protection across oil & gas, LNG, subsea and pipeline projects — from an offshore barge in Arctic Sakhalin, to 48″ gas pipelines in Qatar, to the Mozambique LNG project today. I've worked as a site inspector, as technical services manager for a global coatings supplier, and as the certification authority signing off other people's work at DNV.
That range matters. I've seen coating failures from every angle: the applicator's, the contractor's, the supplier's and the client's. It's why I can usually tell within a few minutes of arriving on site whether a job is going to hold up.
What I've added recently is data. I taught myself Python, pandas and machine learning, and I now use them on inspection work — turning DFT readings, NCR logs and test records into something that shows where problems are forming before they become failures. Most coating engineers don't do this. Most data analysts have never held a gauge. I do both.
